Job Opportunity for Writers: University Outreach and School Relations

The Office of University Outreach and School Relations is currently looking to hire an editor to oversee promotional materials showcasing CSULB to prospective students. Description of Duties:
The position involves the creation and editing of promotional materials that showcase CSULB, including: newsletters, informational fliers, brochures, enrollment management materials, and marketing campaigns that target middle-school, high-school, transfer students, counselors, etc. The editor will update CSULB’s Distinctions database while maintaining updated text for the University Outreach and School Relations Web site. Duties also include the revision of memorandums, letters, office documents and maintenance of chronological files as needed. Software training will be provided.

Position Requirements
· Senior or graduate students preferred;
· Must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) units at CSULB;
· Two-year commitment desirable;
· Good academic standing with a cumulative 2.7 GPA or higher

Position Qualifications

· Extensive writing, editing, proofreading and fact checking experience
· Attention to detail
· Ability to handle multiple tasks
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to work collaboratively with Graphic Designer
· Familiarity with business writing, marketing concepts and AP style
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with dynamic personalities
· Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Macromedia Contribute or Dreamweaver is desirable

Hours & Availability 
Approximately 10-12 hours per week, depending on availability and budget.

Salary
Salary is $10.00 per hour.

Complete UOSR application; submit up to three writing samples with application.

Writing samples can include:
campus newspaper articles, magazine articles, essays from any class, short stories or any other original work.
