Study abroad to Germany/Poland this summer!

Ever wanted to study abroad to Germany and Poland? Consider applying for a short-term study abroad class being offered this summer by Jewish Studies and History professor Dr. Jeffrey Blutinger

In addition to visiting important historical sites, the class will also have opportunities to dialogue with German and Polish college students.


Note: Students who have already taken History 304 (History of the Holocaust) are eligible for this course as it is also a special topics course on Holocaust memorialization.



Holocaust Study Tour
Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Lublin, and Krakow
June 1-20, 2011

[Tentative Itinerary]
June 1: Depart Long Beach
June 2-5: Berlin (Wannsee Conference House; Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, Topography of Terror)
June 6-8: Prague (Jewish Quarter, Terezin [Theresienstadt], Lidice memorial)
June 9-11: Warsaw (ghetto and memorial, day trips to Łodz, Treblinka memorial)
June 12-13: Lublin (Majdanek Concentration Camp)
June 14-19: Krakow (former Jewish Quarter, ghetto, Schindler factory, Płaszow labor camp,  day trips to Roma [Gypsy] museum in Tarnow, Auschwitz-Birkenau)
June 20: Return to Long Beach


Estimated cost: $2,400 plus airfare and course fee. This includes accommodations in hostel or pension, transportation between cities, daily lectures on the Holocaust by Dr. Blutinger, and medical insurance.
